FRSC deploys massive patrols nationwide, warns against drunk driving on Valentine’s Day

Corps Marshal

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mallam Shehu Mohammed, has ordered a nationwide deployment of officers and men to ensure enhanced visibility, effective traffic control and strict enforcement of road safety regulations during the Valentine’s Day celebrations.

Speaking in Abuja, the FRSC boss warned motorists and other road users against drunk driving, excessive speeding and reckless behaviour, stressing that the corps would not tolerate any violation capable of causing crashes during the festivities.

He directed field operatives to intensify patrol operations and deploy breathalysers and radar guns to detect and prosecute traffic offenders.

The Corps Marshal said suspected drunk drivers must be tested and prevented from continuing their journeys to avert avoidable deaths, injuries and destruction of property.

Describing Valentine’s Day as a global celebration of love and goodwill, the Corps Marshal urged motorists to demonstrate responsibility by obeying traffic laws.

“While citizens celebrate love, they must also prioritise safety. The Corps will not spare any driver who violates established traffic regulations,” he said.

Mohammed also encouraged members of the public to utilise the FRSC’s toll-free emergency line, 122, to report accidents, obstructions or reckless driving for prompt intervention.

He called on road users to cooperate with FRSC personnel deployed across highways nationwide, emphasising that their presence is solely to safeguard lives and property.

The Corps Marshal further urged parents and guardians to caution their wards to celebrate responsibly, noting that young people are often more vulnerable to road crashes during festive periods.
