Police operatives in Anambra State have arrested a motel owner and two other suspects over alleged unlawful possession of firearms and involvement in illicit drug activities in Uke, Idemili North Local Government Area.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, identified the suspects as Mr. Ifeanyi Ibeabuchi, 39; Abdullahi Shaibu, 26; and Obah Chima, 18. Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, carried out the arrests.
Ikenga said the operatives acted on credible intelligence on the night of February 9, 2026, and stormed a motel in Uke where they apprehended the suspects.
During the operation, the police recovered one Jojef pump-action gun with breach number 21SA-0724 loaded with three live cartridges.
The operatives also recovered substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa, Crystal Methamphetamine, Colos, and Mkpuru-mmiri from the suspects.
According to Ikenga, Mr. Ibeabuchi confessed to the crime, and further investigation led officers to arrest the two other suspects and recover additional illicit substances.
The police command reiterated its commitment to sustaining ongoing operations against criminal elements in the state. It urged residents to continue providing useful information to support policing efforts.
Ikenga added that the command would communicate further developments as investigations progress.
