2,550 NYSC Batch A corps members take oath as orientation begins in Kwara

Two thousand, five hundred and fifty (2,550) members of the 2026 Batch A, Stream I of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have been formally sworn in for the three-week orientation programme in Kwara State.

Kwara State Chief Judge, Justice Abiodun Adebara, administered the oath of allegiance at the swearing-in ceremony held at the temporary orientation camp situated within Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.

863 males and 1,687 females were on camp including those redeployed from Lagos State to participate in the exercise in Kwara.

Addressing the corps members, Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, represented by his Deputy Governor, Mr. Kayode Alabi, urged them to exhibit patriotism and make meaningful contributions to their host communities through deliberate and positive actions.

The governor encouraged the youths to take the orientation course seriously and embrace the core values of the NYSC scheme by actively participating in all training and capacity-building activities.

“Kwara State offers vast opportunities for young people to harness their talents, skills and innovative ideas.

“I urge you to take advantage of these opportunities and build rewarding lives for yourselves,” he said.

Commitment to corps members welfare

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Youth Development and Chairman of the NYSC Governing Board in the state, Alhaji Shehu Ndanusa, assured the corps members of the state government’s continued commitment to their welfare and security.

He noted that the Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq administration would sustain youth-focused policies and strategies to support their development.

The NYSC Kwara State Coordinator, Mr. Olaoluwa Onifade, confirmed that they have duly registered and accommodated all corps members in line with the NYSC Act and established standard operating procedures.

He charged the corps members to shun nepotism and tribal sentiments but to promote national unity and cohesion, especially in the face of the country’s current challenges.
