Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor has called on Christian faithful to emphasize on spiritual aspect of Christmas festivities.
Ezeokafor who made the charge while delivering his Christmas message noted that Christmas came with joy that only Christ brings which must be shared by Christians.
According to the Bishop, “Joy shared is Joy multiplied”.
He also stressed that Christmas is a time for peace, encouraging believers to make peace with one another.
On the astronomical rise in both air and land transportation cost, the cleric called for strong government regulations as citizens are suffering untold hardships.
He also condemned the killing of Christians in the north by bandits and called on the government to take proactive measures to curb insecurity.
While commending the Dangote refinery for the reduction in fuel pump price, Bishop Ezeokafor expressed dismay at the disturbing corruption cases in the petroleum industry.
He prayed for peace and progress of the nation in the coming year.
