Police in Anambra State have arrested two men for allegedly supplying food and essential logistics to a criminal group linked to secessionist activities in a camp around Orsumoghu and Aguluezechukwu in Ihiala and Aguata local government areas.
The Command’s spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, announced the arrest on Friday. He said a Police-Led Joint Security Team, made up of operatives from the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, and Agunechemba, acted on a tip-off and apprehended the suspects.
Operatives recovered one Type 06 rifle loaded with ten rounds of live ammunition, two pump-action guns, and twenty live cartridges during the operation.
According to Ikenga, “The Police-Led Joint Security Team, acting on credible intelligence in the early hours of 11th December 2025, arrested two suspects who belong to a syndicate that supplies food and other essential logistics to a criminal group linked to secessionist activities within the camp around Orsumoghu and Aguluezechukwu.”
He identified the suspects as Mmadubuchi Ike, 28, and Chinonso Izunobi, 34.
According to him, interrogations revealed their alleged involvement in several serious crimes, including the murder of a youth leader popularly known as Biggy in Ukpor and multiple kidnapping incidents across the state.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, assured the public that investigators are intensifying efforts to track down other fleeing members of the syndicate.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting communities across Anambra, especially during the festive season.
