QRC Onitsha Alumnae rededicate landmark projects, reaffirm commitment to school’s growth

The atmosphere at Queen of the Rosary College (QRC) Onitsha was filled with joy as the Catholic Archbishop of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev. Valerian Okeke, rededicated several landmark projects executed by the QRC Alumnae Association.

The President of the Alumnae Association, Dr. Ifeyinwa Manafa, noted that the union has remained steadfast in supporting the institution’s growth and development.

She highlighted key projects completed by the association, including the reroofing of the school chapel, reconstruction and re-equipment of the school sickbay, construction of a Wall of Fame honouring all class sets and global alumnae contributors, and the furnishing of the QRC Alumnae Office for official consultations.

According to Dr. Manafa, these interventions are part of ongoing efforts to provide a conducive learning environment and reinforce the moral and academic formation of students.

She added that the association has a long history of undertaking impactful projects.

Through its Education Trust Fund (ETF), members annually sponsor scholarships for deserving students in partnership with the school’s management.

Other major projects previously executed include the construction of the school library, staff quarters, field podium, and the Mother Mary Grotto.

Digital learning enhanced

The association has also supported digital learning by donating laptops and educational materials to both staff and students.

Representing the Global President of the association, Chairman Lolo Idu Okeahialam commended the principal for upholding QRC’s legacy of academic excellence.

She emphasized the college’s far-reaching impact in shaping successful alumnae across the world.

The Principal of the College, Rev. Sr. Maria Nwankwo, herself an alumna, expressed delight over the institution’s academic achievements.

She praised the Alumnae Association for its unwavering support and commitment to sustaining QRC’s status as one of the foremost schools in Anambra State.

The event also featured an appreciation session where the Alumnae Association presented cash gifts to the teachers in recognition of their dedication.

The QRC Onitsha Alumnae Association comprises former students of the college residing within Nigeria and across the diaspora.
