President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, as the Renewed Hope Ambassador, ahead of the national launch of the Federal Government’s Ward Development Programme.
In addition to his new role as Ambassador, Governor Uzodimma will also serve as the Director-General for Party Outreach, Engagement, and Mobilisation, a key position that places him at the forefront of driving the administration’s grassroots engagement agenda.
A statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, says this appointment takes immediate effect.
It mandates Governor Uzodimma—working closely with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and fellow governors—to intensify public awareness and understanding of President Tinubu’s reform programmes.
As Renewed Hope Ambassador, and in his capacity as Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Governor Uzodimma will promote harmony, inclusiveness, and strategic coordination across all tiers of the party.
Uzodinma will also lead nationwide mobilisation and engagement efforts in line with the administration’s goals.
The statement reads, “President Tinubu expects him to collaborate with APC governors, who will equally serve as Ambassadors of Hope, to ensure the consistent dissemination of the government’s achievements and milestones since 2023.
This collective effort is aimed at reinforcing the message of Renewed Hope across the country.
Bold reforms since May 2023
According to the statement, since assuming office in May 2023, President Tinubu has pursued bold reforms that are delivering tangible results for the Nigerian economy. Inflation has eased for the seventh consecutive month, dropping to 16.05 per cent in October.
The exchange rate has stabilized, while Foreign Exchange reserves have risen to over $46 billion, significantly up from the $32 billion and a net reserve of $4 billion inherited in 2023.
It explains that investor confidence has also strengthened. Both Foreign Direct Investment and portfolio inflows have increased, with the oil and gas sector benefitting substantially.
“The Nigerian Stock Market continues to experience unprecedented growth. The administration’s diversification drive is yielding progress, with the solid minerals sector emerging as a major contributor.
“Additionally, the liberalised educational loan scheme has already enrolled more than 700,000 students, expanding access to tertiary education.
“The efficiency of passport processing has also improved, with Nigerians now able to obtain their travel documents within one week.
In a personal message to the newly appointed Renewed Hope Ambassador, President Tinubu urged Governor Uzodimma to work diligently to ensure Nigerians fully understand and appreciate the administration’s achievements and ongoing efforts to transform the nation.
