The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Anambra State Chapter, has congratulated the Anambra Beach Soccer “Warriors” on their outstanding victory in the 2025 Nigeria Beach Soccer League.
In a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Chimezie Anaso, and Secretary, Uche Ndeke, SWAN said the team’s performance reflects the resilient, determined, and competitive spirit for which Anambra is known.
The Anambra Beach Soccer Team clinched the national title after defeating the reigning national and African champions, Kebbi Beach Soccer Club, at the grand finale of the league in Abuja on November 9.
SWAN applauded the Anambra Beach Soccer Association (ABSA), led by Prof. Victor Madubuko, for not only bringing the sport into the mainstream in the state but also securing Nigeria’s highest beach soccer honour within just three years of its establishment.
According to the association, the team’s success validates the confidence earlier placed in the Madubuko-led ABSA—confidence that also earned the group the Fastest Growing Sports Association in Anambra award during the 2024 SWAN Week.
“We are thrilled to identify with this victory, which has firmly placed Anambra on the map as a rising powerhouse in African beach soccer within just three years,” the statement said.
SWAN further noted that ABSA demonstrated seriousness and vision by constructing a standard beach soccer pitch and successfully hosting national competitions twice within the same period.
“SWAN Anambra appreciates your commitment to creating platforms for youth engagement and for advancing sports development in the state,” the statement added.
