The 2025 Africa Conference on Development Journalism (ACDJ) is set to hold from December 3 to 4 in Kaduna, Nigeria, marking the ninth edition of the annual gathering since its debut in 2016.
This year’s conference, themed “Media and Inclusive Development: A Call to Action for Africa’s Future,” will explore the media’s pivotal role in advancing sustainable growth across the continent.
The theme underscores the urgency for Africans to take ownership of their development agenda and collectively shape the continent’s future.
Press released signed by Sekyen Dadik, Executive Director, AMDF and Wika Gofwen, Chairman, Communications Committee, ACDJ 2025, says ACDJ serves as a continental platform for journalists, media practitioners, policymakers, and development actors to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and strategize on how the media can drive inclusive and accountable development.
“Development journalism remains a vital tool for nation-building,” said Sekyen Dadik, Executive Director of AMDF.
“Journalists play a central role in informing citizens, analysing issues, holding power to account, and amplifying solutions that can transform communities.”
The 2025 edition will feature a diverse lineup of speakers, including the Kaduna State Commissioner for Information, Mallam Ahmed Maiyaki; Dr. Yila Umaru; and Mrs. Sekyen Dadik, among others.
According to the organisers, participants can expect robust discussions, practical insights, and collaborative opportunities aimed at strengthening the media’s contribution to Africa’s sustainable development.
