President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo on his re-election as Governor of Anambra State, describing the landslide win in Saturday’s governorship poll as a solid affirmation of Soludo’s visionary leadership and the giant strides recorded under his stewardship.
The President, in a statement issued on Sunday, commended the people of Anambra State, security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the peaceful and credible conduct of the election.
He noted that the success of the exercise reflects the maturity of the political process and the deepening of democratic culture in the state.
President Tinubu said Soludo’s return to office—becoming only the third governor in the history of Anambra to secure a second term—proves that knowledge, discipline, transparency and prudent management of public resources remain key to earning the trust and mandate of the people.
He recalled his visit to the state in May where he commissioned landmark projects completed by the Soludo-led administration, describing them as products of clear thinking and innovative governance.
Discipline and brilliance
“I commend Governor Soludo for bringing discipline, grace, brilliance and a fresh perspective to governance.
“Under him, Anambra is truly living up to its motto as the ‘Light of the Nation’,” the President stated.
Tinubu urged Soludo to extend a hand of cooperation to his challengers in the interest of peace and continued progress of the state.
He assured him of the federal government’s support and readiness to partner his administration to deliver more development to the people of Anambra.
Tinubu also applauded INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, and his team for what observers have described as a credible election.
The president urged the commission to continue improving on its performance and deepen the integrity of Nigeria’s electoral system.
“The victory of APGA is a further demonstration of the vitality of our political system.
“When a leader works and connects with his people, his victory can hardly be denied,” President Tinubu noted.
