International and local observers have bemoaned incidences of vote-buying and low turnout of voters in Saturday’s governorship election in Anambra State.

Reports from YIAGA Africa, European Union Support to Democratic Governance in Nigeria (EU-SDGN) II and other partners indicated low voter turnout in most of the polling units across the 21 local government areas.

Addressing newsmen on Saturday, Executive Director, YIAGA Africa, Samson Itodo identified low turnout and vote-buying as recurring issues within the Thematic areas of the election.

Also speaking, Asabe Ndahi of the Kukah Centre lamented several logistics gaps, including late arrival of INEC and security officials in high-risk areas like Nkwelle-Ezunaka, Ihiala, Ogbaru and Nnewi South.

She said vote buying and voter intimidation were observed in many local governments.
