A total of 25 Adults from Anambra and other parts of the country have benefited from the Open-heart Surgeries carried out at the Dame Irene Okwuosa Memorial Hospital DIOMH Oraifite in Ekwusigo local government area of the state.
According to medical records of the hospital, the medical professionals conducted 19 open-heart surgeries for pediatrics during the October mission of the Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation (SEOF)
The 3-weeks medical outreach carried out by American doctors was organized in partnership with the VOOM Foundation USA.
Giving insight into the operations, SEOF Executive Director, Chidinma Okoye said this year’s medical mission cost #220 million.
She revealed that Interventional Cardiology was performed on 11 kids and 13 Adults.
She added that Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation has conducted 145 Open-heart Surgeries in 3 years.
Okoye expressed joy over the large turnout of patients who stormed the hospital to access medical attention at the facility.
“So many people from parts of Anambra and beyond zoomed into Oraifite last week to update their health status.
“That happened courtesy of the VOOM Foundation and Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation.
“These two organisations are are making quality health care accessible and affordable to the Anambra rural populace.
“Officials of the Federal Ministry of Health also recorded the incredible results in the Nigeria’s health sector,” she added.
The joy of the parents of the children who were operated on knew no bounds.
They thanked God for using Dr. Emeka Okwuosa to touch lives in this part of the world.
