The Anambra State Government has declared Friday a work-free day for all civil and public servants in the state to enable them travel to their respective communities ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
This is contained in a statement issued on Thursday in Awka by the Head of Service, Mrs Theodora Igwegbe, who said the approval was granted by Gov. Chukwuma Soludo.
Igwegbe said the gesture was to encourage the active participation of the state workforce in the electoral process, describing it as a civic duty and vital contribution to good governance and democracy.
She directed all political appointees, permanent secretaries, and heads of ministries, departments, and agencies to duly inform their staff and ensure full compliance with the directive.
