Ahead Saturday, 8 November, 2025 governorship election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it will deploy approximately 24,000 ad-hoc staff across the state for the poll, assigned to the 5,718 polling units, 326 Ward Collation Centres in the 21 Local Government Collation Centres across the state.

The commission said it has approved a final register of 2,802,790 eligible voters to cast their votes for a total of 16 governorship candidates of registered political parties in the state for the exercise.

According to INEC, about 540 (508) journalists from 76 media houses have been accredited to cover the election.

The commission says it has completed logistics, technology, training and stakeholder engagement, including a mock accreditation exercise using its BVAS (Bimodal Voter Accreditation System) to test the process ahead of election day.

INEC accredited 114 observer groups for the exercise. The commission also accredited 76 media organizations, and 508 personnel for the coverage of the poll.

On the security side, the state police command reports that no fewer than 60,000 security personnel drawn from various agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) have been deployed to secure the election.
