The Rotary Clubs of Onitsha and Nnewi have jointly donated grinding and sewing machines to four artisans as part of their Community and Economic Development Initiative, in line with the Rotary International theme for the year, “Unite for Good.”
The first phase of the project took place on Sunday, October 26, 2025, when members of the Rotary Club of Onitsha visited the Rotary Club of Nnewi at Gmart Stores, Nnewi.
During the event, two grinding machines and two sewing machines were presented to four beneficiaries — two each nominated by the clubs — to support their work and promote economic self-sufficiency.
Prof. Evaristus Afiadigwe, President of Rotary Club of Nnewi, received members and guests, while Joy Mbadugha, President of Rotary Club of Onitsha, underscored the importance of partnership-driven service projects.
Assistant Governor, Vera Ejefobiri, alongside Project Chairs, Kingsley Ndukwu and Ogochukwu Igbokwe, led the presentation of the empowerment tools.
Beneficiaries appreciative
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to Rotary for the support and pledged to utilize the equipment to boost their income and improve their livelihoods.
The return fellowship was held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, when members of the Rotary Club of Nnewi visited the Rotary Club of Onitsha at Onitsha Sports Club.
The session featured goodwill messages, networking, shared reflections, and strengthened bonding between both clubs.
Both gatherings ended with dinner and social interactions, reflecting unity, friendship, and service — values at the heart of Rotary.
Through this collaborative effort, the clubs demonstrated that by uniting for good, Rotary continues to serve as a beacon of hope and a driver of economic empowerment in local communities.
