Intensify security raids across identified flashpoints – CP tells DPOs, others

Anambra state Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu has ordered Divisional Police Officers, Area and Tactical Commanders to intensify intelligence-driven operations and coordinated security raids across identified flashpoints in their areas of jurisdictions.

Orutugu issued the directive following credible intelligence reports indicating that certain individuals and groups, acting on behalf of political interests, might mobilizing youths for violent activities before and during the election period.

According to him, the strategic move is aimed at nipping in the bud any emerging threats of political thuggery, cult-related violence and the illegal possession of firearms, with the overall goal of ensuring a secure and peaceful electoral environment.

The Commissioner emphasized that the Command would not tolerate any attempt to disrupt public peace, intimidate voters, or undermine lawful electoral processes.

He reiterated the neutrality and non-partisanship of the Nigeria Police Force, stressing that its duty remained protection of lives and property of the people, safeguarding the integrity of the electoral space, and enforcing the law without fear, favour or political influence.
