Retiring Comptroller, Nigerian Immigration Services, Anambra State Command, Godwin Nzeribe has charged Officers and Men of Anambra State Command to always discharge every assignment given to them with sense of commitment and patriotism.
He also urged them make “caution and moderation” their watchword while dealing with others.
Speaking during his pull-out from service, Nzeribe said the wealth of experience gained in course of his service across the six geopolitical zones of the country would serve as a guide after retirement.
“I joined the service in 1993 as a young commissioned officer and today it’s my time to bow out on account of age. I have paid my dues and contributed my quota to the success story of the Service,” he said.
Describing his retirement as one with mixed feelings, the retiring comptroller thanked both Federal government and NIS leadership for opportunity offered him to serve the country in various capacities and at different time and places.
He also appreciated officers and men of the Command for their love, kindness and support extended to him, just as he thanked his family members for standing with him as he traversed the country as duty called.
Earlier, Special Assistant to the Comptroller, Ezeh Nnaedozie highlighted his retiring principal’s numerous achievements during his leadership in the Command, including reviving the Migration section and making it fully functional in the areas of hotel inspection, collection of manifests and profiling of guests for security reasons.
No query, no warning
He added that the retiring comptroller never received query or warning for any form of official misconduct or misdemeanor throughout his career history.
The Special Assistant said, “He brought the Nigeria Immigration Service up to speed across the twenty-one LGAs in the State in terms of relevance and recognition among other Sister Agencies, through his intervention and engagements with the mayors.

“He refurbished and renovated the abandoned vehicles which include the flag car that was completely knocked down, and ensured that the vehicles are maintained and serviceable for effective operations.
“Within the period of his administration, the retiring Comptroller is always stocking the Command Clinic with medicine and supplements.
“He made frantic efforts to deepen relationship of the Service with Anambra State Government, to enhance our relevance in the State and amongst other Sister Agencies through his numerous engagements with the Government.
“Under his watch, the level of discipline improved significantly. The retiring Comptroller is well known for his friendly disposition towards those that come around him.
“He is humble, unassuming and an astute gentleman to the core. He builds trust and confidence in people irrespective of their position, gender and background.
“In his sagacious manner of administration, the retiring Comptroller brought some innovative ideas in the Command.
“These include allowing senior officers of his management team to review monthly parades, free hand to discipline erring officers and take vital actions without interventions.
Jinx breaker
“He unlocked the potentials hidden in the officers by detailing them to represent him in occasions that cut across political, social and economic issues in the State; broke the deadlock between the JTF security outfit and State Government in relation to welfare of operatives.”
Describing his principal as jinx breaker, Ezeh revealed that the Immigration Officers Wives’ Association (IMMOWA) got launched and registered within two months of Ndubuisi’s assumption of office.
“This is an integral part of the Service but was left in the limbo since inception of the Command. With this, our women occupies a pride of place and recognition in the scheme of things in the social space of the State,” he added.
