The Joseph Onuorah Foundation (Deme Deme) has disclosed its preparedness to partner with Ndiowu Town Union (NTU) in Orumba North local government area of Anambra State to host 2025 Ndiowu Sports Fiesta.

Founder of the Foundation, Dr. Joseph Onuorah, disclosed this in Awka, the State capital.

He said the week-long sporting event would bring together Ndiowu’s people in a spirit of unity, healthy competition and celebration.

He said the event is targeted at promoting sportsmanship and community development.

It would run from December 24 to 31, 2025, at the Community Secondary School, Ndiowu.

Dr Onuorah said, “The Ndiowu Sports Fiesta is a grassroots initiative to promote sportsmanship, teamwork and youth empowerment among Ndiowu’s indigenes at home and abroad.

“It aims to rekindle communal bonds and create a festive platform.

“We will use it to celebrate values of discipline, excellence, and cooperation through sports.

Female athletics only

“The competition will feature athletics (for females only) and veterans’ football matches, alongside the main village football tournament involving all villages in Ndiowu.

“The event promises to deliver thrilling sporting moments while fostering unity and cultural pride within the community.”

Onuorah listed attractive and prestigious cash prizes and medals up for grabs to include Gold: ₦1.5 million, Silver: ₦1million and Bronze: ₦500,000 respectively.

According to him, apart from the top prizes, the event will see presentation of several individual awards.

These include: Highest Goal scorer, Most Valuable Player (MVP), Best Goalkeeper, Best Referee and other Merit Awards recognizing outstanding contributions.

More than just competition

He described the Sports Fiesta as more than just a competition.

Dr Onuorah said, “the competition is a vehicle for youth empowerment, social cohesion and community development.

“Through sports, we can inspire our young people to stay active, united, and focused on excellence.

“Ndiowu has a rich history of talent and resilience, and this Fiesta is our way of celebrating that spirit.

“The Joseph Onuorah Foundation has continued to champion initiatives that drive education, social welfare, and economic empowerment across communities in Anambra State and beyond.

“The Ndiowu Sports Fiesta stands as another testament to its enduring commitment to giving back and promoting positive social values.

“The Ndiowu Town Union (NTU), co-organizers of the event, has expressed excitement about the collaboration, noting that the Fiesta will add color to the festive season while strengthening village unity.

“The NTU President praised the Foundation’s consistent role in uplifting Ndiowu’s youth through various developmental programs.

“The event will attract indigenes from across Nigeria and the diaspora, traditional leaders, sports enthusiasts, and well-wishers who will gather to cheer their villages to victory in a spirit of camaraderie.

“The Foundation is a non-profit organization advancing education, healthcare, youth empowerment and community development.

“The Foundation has initiated and supported numerous projects aimed at improving lives and fostering unity within communities.”
