National Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has organized a sensitization workshop for employers of labour and workers on the need to key into the federal government’s Employees Compensation Scheme (ECS).
The workshop which attracted operators at the formal and informal sectors held at Anaedo Hall in Nnewi.
Speaking at the occasion, the lawmaker repenting Ekwusigo, Nnewi North and Nnewi South LGAs at the green chamber of the National Assembly, Peter Uzokwe appealed to employers of labour to enroll their employees into ECS.
He called on his constituents to key into the scheme fully funded by federal government with backed by Act of Parliament.
Uzokwe also appealed to the federal government to put more funds into the scheme to make it more effective.
MD Appreciated
He appreciated the work of the Managing Director (MD) of NSITF and his team.
The lawmaker noted that the institution was enjoying new lease of life under the incumbent management.
Managing Director of NSITF, Barr. Oluseun Faleye extolled the passion of the people of Nnewi for industry, community and commerce.
“The uncommon passion of the people of the industrial town of Nnewi has resulted into passion for economic growth,” he said.
Faleye also commended the passion of the Lawmaker representing Ekwusigo, Nnewi North, Nnewi South in the House of Representatives for his people.
“NSITF is committed to taking the Employees Compensation Scheme (ECS) to the informal sector.
“It is the engine room of the economy,” he added.
NSITF boss appealed to tricycle operators, Okada riders, commercial drivers’ union to organize themselves and key into the scheme.
