Wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, has called on families, communities, institutions and governments to renew their commitment to the growth and development of the girl-child.
Soludo, Founder of Healthy Living initiative made the call in a statement to mark the 2025 International Day of the Girl-child.
The Internationale Day of the Girl-child is commemorates every Oct. 11 to raise awareness on plights of the girl-child in the society.
She said girls are valuable assets whose potentials should be nurtured and protected for a better society.
“Girls are treasures. To be a girl child is to be born unique, intelligent, rare and beautiful.
“Girls are change makers, best managers and better leaders. Any society that wants to grow must do all it can to protect and guard them,” she said.
The governor’s wife highlighted initiatives by Gov. Chukwuma Soludo’s administration designed to promote inclusivity and equal opportunities for both genders.
She cited the free antenatal and delivery care services, including caesarean births and the free education policy in all public schools.
According to her, these policies show government’s commitment to building a supportive system for every child, particularly girls..
“For every child in Anambra, we understand and take responsibility for their dreams. For every girl-child, we do even more because to be a girl is to be super special,” she said.
While congratulating all girls in Anambra and across the world, Soludo urged them to stay confident and focused on their dreams.
“Happy International Day of the Girl-Child to all the phenomenal girls in Anambra and beyond. You are change makers, always remember that,” she said
