Anambra state Police Command has arrested four suspected members of criminal gang allegedly involved in armed robbery and kidnapping in Aguleri, Anambra East local government area of the state.

Spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga in a statement on Tuesday said operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu apprehended the suspects acting on credible intelligence.

According to him, they recovered one pump action gun and one black Toyota Camry car from the suspects who are undergoing interrogations.

He said, “Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command attached to the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu in the early hours of 24th September, 2025 acting on credible intelligence, stormed Aguleri and arrested four suspected members of a criminal gang allegedly involved in armed robbery and kidnapping in the area.

“The suspects all males between the ages of 22 and 40 years include: Uchenna Aniegboka, Sunday Nwakalor, Chukwuebuka Aniegbunam and Onyebuchi Udemba.

“During the Operations, police recovered one pump action gun and one black Toyota Camry car with registration, No. SMK 835 FC.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu reaffirms the Command’s commitment to ensuring that criminal elements have no hiding place in the State.

“He further urged members of the public to continue to provide timely information to the Police to aid in the fight against crime.

“The case shall be charged to court on the conclusion of the investigations.”
