The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State has declared that Governor Charles Soludo’s time in politics is up.
The party vowed to retire the governor at the November 8 governorship election and send him “back to the classroom where he belongs.”
Director-General of the Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu and Senator Uche Ekwunife Campaign Organization, Hon. Dozie Ikedife, made the declaration during an interactive session with journalists in Nnewi.
He accused the Governor of failing the people on all fronts, especially in security, economy, and governance, insisting that Soludo is not a genuine stakeholder in Anambra since he has no visible investment in the State.
“Governor Soludo has failed our people. He has nothing to show in Anambra and has no stake here. He is not a bonafide investor in this State, so he cannot claim to be the leader of a business hub like ours.
“On November 8, Anambra people will retire him from politics and send him back to the classroom,” Ikedife said.
Formidable ticket
According to him, the APC has assembled a formidable ticket in Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu and Senator Uche Ekwunife, who he described as tested, trusted, and people-oriented leaders.
“Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu is not just a politician; he is a businessman who has invested massively in Anambra. He knows what it takes to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
Senator Uche Ekwunife is a seasoned legislator with the right experience to fix what Soludo has broken. Together, they represent light, while Soludo’s administration represents darkness,” he charged.
Ikedife came down hard on Soludo’s record on insecurity, alleging that parts of Orumba South, Ihiala, and Nnewi South had been overtaken by non-state actors under his watch.
“Hundreds of lives have been lost, including two serving legislators. Our people are being brutalized daily, their limbs broken, their cars and properties stolen, while Soludo’s government looks the other way. A government that cannot protect lives and property has no reason to exist,” he declared.
The APC DG also berated the Governor for what he called a habit of “talking down on Anambra people and belittling respected leaders.”
“Soludo insults our citizens. He talks down on Senator Uche Ekwunife, he talks down on George Moghalu, and on every serious contender.
“This arrogance has no place in leadership. If he enjoys talking down on people, let him go back to the lecture hall, not Government House,” he said.
Ikedife emphasized that the APC’s strategy is rooted in grassroots mobilization, declaring that the election will be a straight contest between “a failed government and a credible alternative.”
“Elections are about choices, between good and evil, light and darkness. Anambra people know the truth. A government that taxes its citizens to death while failing to secure their lives is an evil government.
“On November 8, our people will make their choice, and they will choose progress over failure. They will choose Ukachukwu and Ekwunife. They will send Soludo packing,” he concluded.
