Tragedy struck in the early hours of Monday, Sept. 29, as Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, a prominent anchor, reporter and producer with ARISE News, was killed during an armed robbery at her residence in the Katampe area of Abuja.
The news of her death was confirmed in a statement issued by ARISE News management on Monday.

“Sommie tragically passed away in the early hours of Monday following an armed robbery incident hat is being investigated by the Nigeria Police.
Maduagwu, 29, was not only a rising star in broadcast journalism but also a trained lawyer.
Her colleagues described her as a vibrant and professional presence on and off air, known for her passion, dedication and ability to connect with viewers across the country.
“She was a cherished member of the ARISE News family.
“Her voice is now silent, but her spirit, passion and legacy will endure as part of our collective memory,”it said.
As of the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Police Force has not released an official statement regarding the circumstances of the incident or the ongoing investigation.
