Gov. Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, has urged corps members to embrace discipline, patriotism and responsibility as they commence their service year.

Soludo gave the advice at the Swearing-in and Opening Ceremony for the 2025 Batch “B” Stream II of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members.

The event took 0lce at the Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC Unity Permanent Orientation Camp, Umuawulu-Mbaukwu.

Soludo was represented by Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr Patrick Aghamba.

He reminded the corps members that the oath of allegiance was a solemn covenant to uphold the values of service, integrity, unity and sacrifice.

The Governor praised NYSC as one of Nigeria’s most enduring post-civil war institutions.

According to him,  NYSC plays pivotal role in fostering integration and grassroots development. 

Soludo noted that corps members had continued to contribute significantly to sectors across the state.

“Do not merely pass through Anambra, let Anambra pass through you. 

“Take advantage of the opportunities here and leave your mark. 

“Wherever you are posted, let your presence be felt in the integrity, kindness and impact you leave behind,” he said.

Soludo cited inspiring examples of corps members who had gone beyond their primary assignments to transform communities.

He said a corps member rebuilt a long-abandoned facility in Ayamelum LGA.and earned both a State Honours Award and the admiration of the host community.

According to him, the government is committed to improving corps members welfare and camp facilities.

He also reiterated his administration’s vision of building human capital.

“This will be done through the Solution Innovation District,.

“As well as Code Anambra Tech Bootcamps, One-Youth-Two-Skills Initiative and Youth-in-Agribusiness Projects.

I,679 Corps Members Registered for Orientation

Earlier, State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs. Pauline Ojisua disclosed that 1,679 corps members registered for the orientation course.

The State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice O.M. Anyachebelu administered the oath of allegiance.

He was represented by Hon. Justice D.C. Maduechesi.
