UN-PEPOLAC demands full implementation of Peace Building and Conflict Mgt Agency law

United Nations Peace and Positive Living Awareness Centre (UN-PEPOLAC) has commended Anambra Government for championing Peace Building and Conflict Management Agency law.

International Global President, Dr. Festus Ozoemena made the commendation in Awka at the Peace Advocates Convention/AGM.

The event was also to mark 2025 World Peace Day Celebration themed; “Act Now for a Peaceful World”

He however, called for the full implementation of the law which was sponsored by the organisation.

Addressing newly appointed peace advocates and ambassadors, Ozoemena stressed the need to commence and complete the Peace Building Center at Agu Awka to promote the course of peace.

He said the facility would serve as Secretariat for conflict resolutions and relaxation home where attributes of peace would be inculcated in guests and tourists to the edifice.

“I want to emphasize our organization’s strong commitment to the UN global peace agenda 2030.

“As well as the UNESCO Culture of Peace and our Positive Living Awareness Initiative.

“We align our efforts with the United Nations’ vision of promoting peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable developments.

“Foster culture of peace through education, dialogue and community engagement, promoting understanding and respect among diverse groups

“And empower individuals and communities to adopt positive living practices, contributing to a more peaceful and harmonious world,” he said.

Peace, Gateway to Happiness

Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Dr. Somtochukwu Udeze harped on importance of peace for better and just society.

Udeze, represented by the Clerk of the House, Mr Tony Ughenu, described peace as gateway to happiness.

He urged support to every peaceful initiative.

“If there’s any commodity that is priceless, it’s peace. You can’t boast of being blessed without peace,” he added.

Also speaking, Chairman, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Moses Ezedebego described peace as defense mechanism.

“Peace isn’t absence of war, but having rest in the midst of war.

” Being in physical prison isn’t the worst prison. The worst prison is prison of the mind. 

“When a mind is locked up with hatred and bitterness, evil and wickedness, crimes and violence becomes order of the day.

“That’s why World Peace day is very essential because it’s a foundation for progress and development. 

“It’s vital for both individuals and society,” he added.

Earlier, Chairman of the event, Dr. Kenneth Nwuba described peace as God’s command which every human being should pursue.

Nwuba commended the UN-PEPOLAC for its peace advocacy.

Highlights of the event were culture of peace awareness, peace awards, appointments, peace alive initiative campaign, investitures and paper presentations.
