A Brazilian billionaire who had never met Neymar has reportedly left his entire fortune — worth an estimated £846 million — to the football superstar.
According to Brazilian outlet RIC, the unidentified man formalized his will at a notary office in Porto Alegre, with two witnesses present, on June 12.
The billionaire, who is said to have been childless and single, allegedly named Neymar as his sole heir.
The will is now subject to clearance by Brazilian courts before Neymar can officially inherit the estate. Legal hurdles may still arise even if the document is validated.
Local media reports claim the businessman chose Neymar because he felt a personal connection with the player, despite never having met him.
He reportedly admired Neymar’s close relationship with his father, Neymar Sr., which reminded him of his own late father.
So far, Neymar has not publicly commented on the reports.
The 33-year-old forward recently returned to Brazil, rejoining his boyhood club Santos in January after a short and troubled stint with Saudi club Al-Hilal.
During the second half of the 2024–25 season, he scored three goals in 14 appearances.
In his first spell at Santos from 2009 to 2013, he netted 136 goals in 225 matches.
