Federal Government has declared Friday a public holiday to mark the 2025 Eid-ul-Mawlid, commemorating the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration in a statement issued Wednesday in Abuja through the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.

Tunji-Ojo congratulated the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and across the world on the occasion, urging reflection on the virtues of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion exemplified by the Prophet.

“These values remain essential in building a united, prosperous, and progressive nation,” he said.

The Minister further called on Nigerians, irrespective of religious affiliation, to pray for peace, security, and stability in the country.

He also solicited for support towards government’s efforts to national harmony and sustainable development.
