Motorcycle operators in Anambra State, predominantly youths from the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have endorsed governor Chukwuma Soludo for second term ahead of November 8 governorship election in the State.

The endorsement took place during the official commissioning of the 50 km reconstruction Book Foundation road Ifite-Awka, in Awka South Local Government Area.

Addressing newsmen shortly after the event, Chairman of Okada ridders in the area, Mohammed Audu said the endorsement was to enable the governor continue the good works he is doing in the state.

“The good works include the just commissioned book foundation road that has been in deplorable condition for the past 25 years.

He said, “I have been in Awka for about 25 years now and this road has been a challenge to road users and especially commercial Okada and Keke operators like us.

“People are afraid of using this road because you must visit the mechanic or panel beater everyday and that is lot of money for us.

Sufferings over

Audu further remarked, “But today all those things are over and we are grateful to Governor Soludo for working on this road.

“The road will be more beneficial to us than any other person residing in this area.

“Our endorsement decision was also sequel to the sterling performance of the governor in the last three years.

“This is evident in improvement of security, youth empowerment programmes, economic revitalisation, restoration of peace and free healthcare/education services to both indigenes and non-indegenes in the state.

Audu, assured that his leadership would mobilize other northern motorcycle operators across the three Senatorial District of the State to ensure landslide victory for the governor.

Chairman of Awka South Local Government Area, Prince Chinedu Okafor, commended the governor for his continued effort to restore the state capital from it loss glory.

The chairman was represented at the event by the council’s Secretary, Mr Peter Nosike Uyanwune while the road was supervised by Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA).
