Youths of Ayamelum local government area of Anambra state have condemned recent activities of member representing the constituency, Mr Bernard Udemezue.
They described the lawmaker’s actions as uncouth, inciting and uncivil.
The youths addressed newsmen during a solidarity rally for Governor Chukwuma Soludo at the local government secretariat Anaku.
The Convener, Mr Obinna Nweke said Udemezue’s actions was not a reflection of values of Ayamelum people.
He disassociated his members from the lawmaker’s agitations, affirming the community’s stand with Soludo.
He said, “The lawmaker’s recent conduct, marked by incivility, rascality, incitement, and uncouth utterances towards some revered authorities in Ayamelum and Anambra State at large does not reflect the values of our people.
“Ayamelum Youths are civil, learned and respectful to our elders and constituted authorities.
“We the youths, disassociate ourselves completely from his agitations and affirm that Ayamelum stand with Governor Soludo.
“We equally commend the 8th Anambra State House of Assembly ably lead by Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze for the right steps towards calling our brother to order.
“We hope that Hon. Udemezue utilizes the three months suspension period to retrace his steps and adopts the right approaches to representation.”
The youths seized the opportunity to call for establishment of an International Market in the area to further drive developments and utilize Ayamelum vast land mass.
They also appealed for establishment of higher institutions, CBT Centre, digital library and appointment of vibrant and educated youths of the community into the state cabinet and boards.
Describing Ayamelum as food-basket of Anambra, with endowed Human and Natural resources, Nweke argued that the area would economically transform the local government and impact the state if properly harnessed.
“We respectfully solicit the Solution’s government to unlock Ayamelum’s full potentials and integrate the town into the state’s developmental map.
“We also appeal for construction of alternative road linking Ndi Ayamelum to Awka and other parts of Anambra State as well as rehabilitation of the only federal road leading to Otuocha.
“Ayamelum remains the food-basket of Anambra, with endowed Human and Natural resources.
Proper harnessing
Nweke said, “If properly harnessed, the resources will economically transform the local government and impact the state,” he added.
While reaffirming their confidence in the Solution Government, the youths declared 100% loyalty and support to Soludo’s re-election.
They also pledged readiness to partner with the governor in delivering the Solution Agenda and building a more livable and prosperous State.
Nweke added, “We wish to brief the public on our collective position concerning the leadership of our dear Governor and to state clearly our stand.
“This has become imperative following the watery accusations emanating from some individuals in Ayamelum.

“First and foremost, we wish to commend the Solution Governor for his bold developmental strides that have directly touched the entire Anambra State particularly Ayamelum.
“Among these include employment of over 200 teachers from Ayamelum under PPSSC and ASUBEB, as well as the recruitment of health workers.
“Solar power installation in all 11 Primary Health Centres in Ayamelum, free antenatal care and delivery services across our health facilities.
Other projects in Ayamelum
“Construction of the CSS Ifite-Ogwari – Ama Isiudala Road in Ifite-Ogwari. The ongoing construction of Solution General Hospital, Anaku, conversion of Amikwe Community Secondary School, Omor, into a Smart School, and implementation of free Education from Nursery School to Senior Secondary school.
“Through the efforts of the Ayamelum local government administration ably led by the Mayor, Hon. Prince Alphonsus Ofumelu, who is driving the solution agenda in Ayamelum, the following landmark projects has been initiated.
“Construction of Omor-Umerum road, renovation of Ayamelum council hall and installation of solar lights in the local government vicinity, operation zero potholes in Otuocha-Ayamelum-Adani federal road and improved local security and peace amongst the eight communities in Ayamelum.
“These interventions are not just policies on paper; they are realities that have changed lives in Ayamelum. For this, we say a big thank you, Your Excellency.”
