Anambra State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs Pauline Ojisua has described corps members as living proof that the Scheme’s mission of fostering unity is alive and thriving.

Ojisua stated this on Saturday during the 2025 Batch B, Stream 1 Inter-platoon cultural carnival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC Unity Permanent Orientation Camp, Umuawulu/Mbaukwu.

She said the event was not just an entertainment but reminder that the nation’s differences were not barriers, but bridge as well as strong beautiful connections binding citizens as one people.

She said, “Today is not just another date on our calendar. It is a living celebration of Nigeria’s soul.

“In this arena, our ten platoons come together to tell the story of over 250 ethnic groups through vibrant dances, rich cuisines, age-old marriage rites, colourful attire, and powerful storytelling.

“This is more than entertainment; it is a reminder that our differences are not barriers, but bridges—strong, beautiful connections that bind us as one people.

“Every dance step taken, every traditional garment worn, every flavour shared today is a loud declaration that Nigeria’s strength lies in its diversity.

Carnival dissolves stereotypes

“This carnival is a place where stereotypes dissolve, where unity blooms, and where the dream of One Nigeria stands tall and proud.

“You have embraced this moment with creativity, energy, and an open heart. You are living proof that the NYSC’s mission of fostering unity is alive and thriving.”

Commissioner for Youth Development, Patrick Aghamba reiterated government’s commitment to empowering young people, deepening national integration, and creating opportunities for youth development.

Aghamba, represented by Permanent Secretary, Engr. Dr. Martin Agbili said the event was a reaffirmation of the unity and strength that define Nigerians.

“The NYSC has been a vital partner in this vision, and today’s event demonstrates the positive role our youths play in building bridges of understanding.

“As you celebrate, I encourage you to look beyond the colorful displays and reflect on the deeper values they represent, mutual respect, tolerance and collaboration.

“These values are not only vital for nation-building, but they will also guide you as future leaders and change-makers in our country,” he added.
