First Lady appreciates Mrs Soludo for supporting RHI programmes in Anambra 

First Lady empowers 1000 Anambra women

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu says has appreciated Wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, for supporting Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) programmes in the state.

Oluremi gave the commendation on Wednesday in Awka, at the Economic Empowerment programme for 1000 women in Anambra, under the RHI.

The programme is in conjunction with the Tony Elumelu Foundation.

Recall that on Tuesday, the First Lady inaugurated the empowerment programme for 18,500 women nationwide.

The programme was targeted at women traders and small-scale business owners, with each recipient receiving a grant of N50,000.

Oluremi who was represented by Mrs Soludo said that women’s empowerment is a catalyst for household, community and national progress.

“This seed funds is to support the entrepreneurial spirit of women, strengthen and recapitalise their businesses and small scale enterprises.

“When you empower a woman, you empower a household, a community and the future of the nation at large.

“I thank Gov. Chukwuma Soludo and his Wife for supporting RHI programmes in the state.

“The Initiative planned to empower 500 beneficiaries in Anambra but the state government supported with addition 500 beneficiaries,” she said. 

The First Lady encouraged the women to invest the funds in expanding their businesses and enhance their wellbeing..

In her remarks, Mrs. Ify Obinabo, Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, expressed gratitude to the First Lady.

Obinabo appreciated her for acknowledging the vital role of women’s empowerment in fostering strong and healthy families.

She also commended Dr. Nonye Soludo for disbursing the funds.

“You also doubled the number of beneficiaries from 500 to 1,000, describing the initiative as highly commendable,”she said.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Janet Asika, a hairstylist from Aguata, thanked the government for prioritizing the welfare of grassroots women.
