Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) has stressed the need to strengthen quality of basic education in the State and enhance learning outcomes for learners.
Executive Chairman, Dr. Vera Nkiru Nwadinobi stated this at a 5-day intensive training for Mathematics and Science teachers across the three Senatorial Zones of the state.
The training programme tagged: “Strengthening Mathematics and Science Education (SMASE), held at Central School, Awka.
It was organized by the Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC, Abuja, in collaboration with ASUBEB.
Nwadinobi explained that they organized the training to empower the teachers with modern pedagogical skills to boost literacy and numeracy among pupils.
She applauded the relentless commitment of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in providing free and inclusive education from nursery to senior secondary level.
Nwadinobi described the policy as a critical step towards bridging learning inequality.
She urged participants to embrace and implement the new curriculum modules introduced during the training.

The ASUBEB Chairman stressed the importance of using Mother Tongue in teaching the pupils at the basic education level.
This, she noted would help to inspire and shape the minds of our young learners.
“Foundational learning is the bedrock upon which all academic success is built.
She urged them to cascade the knowledge from training down to colleagues at the Local Government Education Authority levels.
The ASUBEB boss further revealed Soludo’s plan to build public schools in communities that do not have public schools.
This according to her is part of efforts to ensure that quality education gets to every child in the area.
