Police recover corpse of missing 43-year old real estate magnate in Bayelsa

Operatives of the Rapid Response Unit of the Bayelsa State Police Command have recovered the corpse of missing real estate magnate, Ekpeboh Richard from the forest between new NDDC Internally Displaced Persons Camp and Otuokpoti in Ogbia Local Government Area of the State.

Police discovered the abductors shot the deceased in the head in an execution manner and dumped in the bush.

Ekpeboh Richard is the Vice Chairman of the Real Estate Consultants Association of Bayelsa.

The deceased who hails from Ammassoma in Southern Ijaw Local Government area of the State, left behind a wife and two kids.

Ekpeboh left home on the 24th of July,2025 and did not return home at about 2 am, a development that worried his wife.

According to family sources, all calls by the wife were answered three days later through WhatsApp chat.

He purportedly asked her the wife not to mount unnecessary pressure on him and that he was okay.

When the wife threatened to reach out to the extended family to ask him why he abandoned the house, he promised to send money via Point Of Sales Operator.

True to his promise, he sent N15,300 to the POS agent and not her account.

The chat also reportedly contained claims that he also revealed that he is owing two persons N9 million and N3 million within the association.

Abductors using Ekpeboh’s phone

But police later found out that those who abducted and killed him were the ones using his phone to chat with his wife.

According to some friends and colleague of the deceased, they later reported the matter to the Police and the men of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) headed by CSP Bishop Elemide.

The RRS operatives, working on intelligence, cooperation of Youths and an eyewitness, discovered that two young men in a blue Coloured Honda Vboot car had dragged the deceased out and took him deep into the forest.

Two gun shots followed with the two young men fleeing with their car and the deceased Toyota Matrix car.

Police investigators discovered that there was a struggle between the Ekpeboh and his killers.

They discovered his footwear a few metres from where the body.

“We, the youths assisted in recovering the body. They dumped the corps in a swamp after blowing off his head with gun.
