Crime and criminalities around markets in Anambra State will soon become history.

Some critical stakeholders gave the assurance during the inspection of the CCTV surveillance cameras at the New Auto Spare parts Market Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area.

They said with the installation of the solar-powered Artificial Intelligence CCTV and security cameras in all the markets and their environs, insecurity, crime and criminalities in and around markets would soon be a thing of the past.

One of them and Pineleaf Estates Boss, Archbishop Onyeka Nzekwesi said that incidents like burglary, fire incidents and robbery within the markets would be very difficult henceforth.

He explained that the CCTV surveillance cameras will be running for 24 hours and monitored 24 hours from a central computer within the markets and at the ASMATA Secretariat, Onitsha.

“The initiative is from Pineleaf but the Governor approved it. It is Private Public Community Partnership initiative.

“The CCTV surveillance solar powered cameras installation have been completed in this New Auto Spare parts Market, Nkpor awaiting flag off anytime from now.

Innovative governor

“Governor Chukwuma Soludo has a desire for innovation because he wants development. When we presented the initiative, he welcomed it with open hands.”

The contractor, Chief Chukwugozie Bob Francis Nzekwesi of CB GOFRAM Agro we are here for the inspection of CCTV surveillance cameras and New parts Market Nkpor has been completed.

“The CCTV surveillance camera is top notch when you talk about security gadgets.

“It will assist in apprehending any person that steals anything in the market.

“We are here to implement this security initiative signed by His Excellency. These Ai CCTV cameras capture clearly both day and night.

“I want to advise criminals or criminally minded people to leave the markets or change their ways because their time is up with this innovation and installations.

CCTV Wide coverage

The New Auto Spare parts Market Chairman, Chief Stephen Oforleh said that the CCTV installation has become functional.

According to him, the surveillance cameras cover both inside the market and the outskirts like the fly over by the Onitsha Enugu Expressway, New market road and bank lane behind the new spare parts market.

“From what I saw today, I am impressed with the level of work and gadgets the contractor used.

“We are told that they installed AI cameras which capture person by person and not randomly.

“They are almost through with the last stage of test running the CCTV surveillance camera. I believe that the commissioning will be done in this August.

“The installation of this CCTV surveillance solar powered cameras is part of the journey towards actualizing Anambra State becoming the Dubai Taiwan of Africa.

“This is why both traders and other people of Anambra are still saying that Soludo is going for second tenure to enable him complete all the things he has initiated,

“The Special Adviser to Governor on Trade and Market, Chief Evarist Ubah had been instrumental to most of the developments in the markets.

The ASMATA PG, Chief Humphrey Anuna is also working round the clock to make sure that peace, unity and progress reign across the markets.”

In his remarks, the State Marshall General Mr Titus Akpudo said: “we are here in ASMATA office to inspect the control room for CCTV surveillance cameras in all the markets.

“The essence of the project is to help cub criminal elements in the society. With the CCTV cameras crime scene can easily be detected, monitored and countered at the same time.

With this great innovation activated, I bet you in less than 12 months, Anambra State will be crime free.

At the ASMATA Secretariat Onitsha, which houses the Central Control room, Chief Anuna expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far on the market CCTV installation and connectivity.

He appreciated Pineleaf Estates and Homes Ltd for the initiative noting that with the security of their goods, traders in markets would not stop singing the praises of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
