The Chairman, Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Chidubem Iweka, of Obosi has proposed the creation of three local government areas out of Obosi community.
Obosi is currently in Idemili North Local Government Area.
Igwe Iweka hinged the request on the vastness and soaring population of the town, which is now home to many visitors.
The monarch made the call recently at the National Assembly, Abuja while presenting his proposal which include statistical representation of the population, infrastructure, revenue strength, strategic location, and investment opportunities in Obosi.
He said, “Obosi has over 10% of the entire votes of Anambra state made up of roughly 180 communities.
“Obosi has 15 urban communities, yet it is a community and not a local government.
“I am here to present a memo that is so well written with facts and figures and we are demanding for 3 local governments in Obosi kingdom.
“Please I want this our memo to be looked into passionately.
“This is a community that if situated in certain parts of Nigeria, four LGAs could be carved out it.
“But Obosi community is now still under Idemili North government with some other communities”, Eze Iweka regretted.
