Super Falcons hunt for 10th WAFCON title against hosts, Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses

Super Falcons of Nigeria will be confronting the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco, hosts of the 2024 Women’s Africa Nations Cup, WAFCON in the final of the tournament.

Super Falcons had on Tuesday recorded a hard-fought 2 – 1 victory over the difficult title holders, Banyana Banyana of South Africa in the first semi- final.

Nigeria and South Africa had converted penalty kicks to take the lead and level up before the winning goal for the Super Falcons came in the 94th minute.

A Mitchell Alozie’s long ball from the midfield unstoppably sailed into the South African net.

Host, Morocco later defeated the Black Queens of Ghana 4 – 2 on penalties after the electrifying encounter had ended 1 – 1 at the regulation time.

Super Falcons will be playing to achieve a historic tenth WAFCON title while Atlas Lionesses are exploring the likelihood of winning the coveted title for the first time.

Apart from the Super Falcons, only Equatorial Guinea and South Africa have won the title once each.
