Veteran entertainer and activist, Charles Oputa, popularly known as CharlyBoy, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of renowned Nollywood actor, Tom Njemanze.
Njemanze reportedly died over the weekend following a long battle with prostate cancer.
Prior to his death, the actor had shared a viral video online, revealing he was undergoing treatment.
He also appealed to Nigerians for urgent financial support to undergo surgery.
Describing Njemanze’s death as “regrettable,” CharlyBoy lamented that the loss came just as efforts were intensifying to secure the necessary funds for the actor’s medical procedure.
“We received the sad news over the weekend from his son, who called to inform me of his passing.
“His death is so unfortunate.
“That’s why whenever we see someone in distress, we should act quickly—because no one knows the time.
He also recalled his earlier appeal to the public on behalf of Njemanze.
According to him, awareness efforts helped raise some funds.
“We were able to support the family in a small way by creating awareness.
“We also encouraged people to donate directly to their account,” he added.
