Odogwu Emeka Odogwu and Ukpa Ewa
It was a reflective moment as dignitaries gathered at Umuch for the solemn service of songs in honour of Late Sir Sylvester Anyarue Ezeokenwa, father of National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mr. Sly Ezeokenwa.
Sir Sylvester Ezeokenwa died at the age of 71.
The vigil mass took place at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Parish, Amanasaa Umuchu, in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.
In his homily, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor, emphasized the importance of living a virtuous life.
The cleric reminded the congregation to do good for which others will remember them when they are no more.
He called on the living to learn from the dead by doing good.
The Anambra State Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Humphrey Nwafor, led a delegation of labour leaders to the event.
He noted that giving the dead a befitting burial is the ultimate honour the living can offer.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council, Dr Emeka Odogwu, in company of other journalists, was impressed by the large turnout of dignitaries.
He attributed it to the son of the deceased Mr Sly Ezeokenwa, who had risen to become a national figure and a friend to all.
In attendance were the Deputy Chief of Staff, Office of the Deputy Governor Ugochukwu Obiefuna, Chairman of Aguata LGA, Chibueze Ofobuike, Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Ben Chiobi.
Others are House of Representatives member, Dr Paschal Agbodike, Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Development Dr. Nelson Omenugha, APGA local government party chairmen, priests, media professionals among others.
