The Chairman, Joint National Association of Persons with Disability, (JONAPWD), Comrade Ugochukwu Okeke has called on members of the disability community to get involved in the political process in the state.

Ugochukwu in a release entitled, “Clarion call to persons with disabilities: Get involved, get your PVC now!”, appealed to members across various cluster groups to rise up and do the needful now.

The release reads, “The Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise is ongoing, it started on 8th of July, 2025 and ends on 17th July 2025.

“It is important for us to know that this is our moment to be counted, to be heard, and to shape our future!

If you have not yet obtained your Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC), now is the time to act fast.

“It is only one day remaining (Tomorrow)! Your vote is your voice, and your voice matters!

Why Should PWDs Register?

Okeke said PWDs should register to vote to be able to demand inclusion.

“Without your vote, your issues may continue to be sidelined. You register so as to choose leaders who care about disability rights.

“Participation is power to say: “Nothing Without Us” and mean it.

“Hon. Resident Electoral Commissioner of the State has assured and informed us that we have a right to: priority treatment at registration and voting centers.

“We also have the right to accessible environments and support services during the process.

“It is equally our right to fully participate in all aspects of the electoral process.

Security equally assured

The JONAPWD Chairman expressed satisfaction about assurance by the security agencies to offer PWDs maximum security throughout the process.

“Therefore, don’t let anything hold you back. Let’s show Ndi Anambra and the world that disability is not inability.

“Go out now and register. Together, we can build a more inclusive democracy,” Okeke pleaded.
