Police in Anambra state have recovered two stolen vehicles in separate intelligence-led operations in Obosi and Asaba in Anambra and Delta states respectively.
Spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga who disclosed this on Saturday said a team of police officers led by Divisional Police Officer Obosi in collaboration with local vigilante personnel recovered the vehicles.
He said investigation into circumstances surrounding the theft was ongoing, while efforts were intensified to apprehend the perpetrators.
He said, “The Anambra State Police Command, under the Ogidi Area Command, has recorded significant breakthroughs in its ongoing efforts to combat vehicle theft and armed robbery.
Ikenga said they successfully recovered two stolen vehicles on July 12, 2025, in separate intelligence-led operations.
He said they recovered an abandoned 2005 model red-colour Toyota RAV-4, with registration number YAB 122 AZ (Abuja) at along Fresh Air Hotel Road, near Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, Odume-Isiowulu, Obosi.
According to him, armed men snatched the vehicle from the owner in the early hours of 11th July 2025 in Oba.
Inter-state collaboration
“Furtherance of a prior case reported on 6th July 2025, the Anambra State Police Command, working closely with the Delta State Police Command, has successfully recovered an abandoned school bus belonging to SUSU College.
“The Police Officers attached to the Isiowulu Police Division, who had been investigating the case, acted on credible intelligence received in the early hours of July 12, 2025.
“The vehicle was found abandoned opposite the Magistrate Court, Asaba, Delta State.
“The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, Ikioye Orutugu commended the swift synergy between both Commands.
He reaffirmed the importance of continued cooperation between sister security agencies in tackling crimes that transcend state boundaries.”
