Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu has called on residents to support ongoing efforts to expose criminal elements operating as self-determination agitators.

The appeal followed recent intelligence reports indicating that criminals are increasingly exploiting separatist sentiments to carry out violent crime.

They extort money from defenceless citizens, abduct, and target attacks on innocent citizens.

The CP reiterated the Command’s commitment to restoring lasting peace and ensuring security across the state.

He also acknowledged the State’s longstanding reputation for peace, tolerance, innovation, industry, and entrepreneurship.

Orutugu emphasized the need for residents to distinguish between genuine advocacy and the actions of individuals leveraging unrest for personal gain.

He said, “The Police Command remains fully committed to collaborating with local communities, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and relevant stakeholders to dismantle criminal networks and ensure a safe environment for all.

“The safety and progress of Anambra lie in our collective resolve to reject violence and criminality in all its forms.

“Residents in need of security services are advised to contact the Command Control Room at 07039194332 or the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) at 08039334002 for prompt assistance.”
