The Federal Government has confirmed that the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline is progressing steadily.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made the announcement.
Mohammed spoke during the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) Quarterly meeting in Minna.
Idris emphasised President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to energy and infrastructure development.
He noted that the AKK pipeline which is part of the larger Trans-Nigeria Pipeline Project, has now crossed the River Niger.
The 614km, 40-inch pipeline will transport natural gas from Ajaokuta through Abuja and Kaduna to Kano.
He also highlighted other energy initiatives.
“including the OB3 pipeline, Kolmani Oil Project in Bauchi and the ANOH and AHL gas processing plants.
According to him, they are set to increase domestic gas supply by 25%.
“Additionally, five mini-LNG plants are being developed in Ajaokuta, and over $500 million has been attracted for Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) projects.
The Minister urged information managers to actively communicate these developments to the public.
He said the government’s broader efforts in youth empowerment, innovation, and regional development.
Gov. Umaru Bago of Nigeria State represented by Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Gawu, stressed the importance of strategic communication in governance.
PGF Director-General, Folorunso Aluko, unveiled a proposed media policy.
“The policy aligns with federal and APC state communication efforts through a Joint Media Coordination Platform,” he said.
