The Academic Frontiers Initiative (AFI) has thrown its weight behind the re-election bid of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in the November 8 gubernatorial election.

The group called on staff and students of tertiary institutions across the state to rally support for what it described as the “Project Consolidation in Solution.”

In a statement, its National President, Prof. Chinedu Onyeizugbe and Secretary, Mr. Tevin Anyali, reiterated its mission of promoting good governance and civic accountability throughout Nigeria.

“After evaluating the progress made so far under the Soludo-led administration, the AFI Anambra State Chapter is convinced that continuity remains key to sustainable development.

“The Academic Frontiers Initiative is a registered body composed of staff in both teaching and non-teaching positions across Nigerian tertiary institutions.

“We have watched with keen interest the unprecedented developmental strides across various sectors under Prof. Soludo.

“We believe the time to consolidate is now,” the statement partly reads.

Sustained structured engagements

AFI has also started a structured engagements with coordinators across universities, polytechnics, monotechnics, and colleges of education in the state.

The aim was to enrich and promote issue-based discussions around the governor’s Solution Agenda.

“Combined, these institutions have an estimated 14,000 staff and 100,000 students,” it disclosed.

It clarified that membership is open strictly to registered voters in Anambra State, as defined by INEC voter records.

It urged interested academic, administrative staff and students who meet the criteria to identify with the group.

According to AFI, the upcoming election presents a critical opportunity for academics to participate constructively in shaping Anambra’s governance future.

It stressed the need to back a candidate whose policies have impacted education, technology, security, and infrastructure.

The group called for sustained grassroots mobilization and informed participation by citizens.

This it noted will help the Project Consolidation in Solution to gain even broader momentum across the state’s higher institutions.
