Police nab cultist linked to murder, abduction of 4 in Oko community

Anambra State Police Command has arrested one Chukwujekwu Okoye over alleged involvement in murder of two persons and abduction of two others in Oko in Orumba North Local Government Area. 

Spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga who disclosed this on Tuesday said police operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Awkuzu, apprehended the suspect on July 7.

The PPRO said the suspect confessed to being active member of the Aye Confraternity Cult group and how they had perfected plans for initiation ceremony and rivalry cult attack.

He said, “Police Operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Awkuzu on 7th July 2025 arrested a male suspect one Chukwujekwu Micheal Okoye a.k.a Bus-Stop, aged 25 years old.

“The arrest is a follow-up to the disturbing incident at Oko which records the injury to two persons, murder of two persons and abduction of two others.

Ikenga said the kidnap victims got their freedom after ransom payment early last month at the Total Junction and Tipper Junction respectively.

Recovery made

“The Operatives also recovered one automatic pump-action gun and two handsets. 

“The suspect in the early hours of the 22nd May, 2025 robbed a victim of his handset and other valuables at gunpoint in Oko.

Ikenga said the cultist also stated how they have perfected plans for the initiation ceremony and rivalry cult attack yesterday 7th July 2025.

“He revealed details of how him and six (6) other gang members attacked Oko on the 19th of June 2025.

He said with the information provided by the suspect, the operatives have activated plans for the arrest of other gang members.

This is to ensure the dismantling of the criminal network in the State.”
