Ogboji massacre not targeted at any particular state, ethnic group – Anambra govt

Anambra State Government has condemned recent killing of innocent lives at Ogboji, Orumba South Local Government Area of the state.

Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor in a statement extended condolences to deceased families.

He however explained that the incident was not targeted at any particular state or ethnic group.

He said preliminary investigations revealed that the unfortunate incident might have stemmed from internal squabble.

The Commissioner called on police to conduct a thorough investigation to identify the suspects and bring them to justice

Mefor urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators.

The statement partly reads, “The Anambra State Government is deeply saddened by the recent killing of innocent lives at Ogboji, Orumba South Local Government Area.

“The government strongly condemns this dastardly act in the strongest possible terms and extends its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims.

He called on the police command to conduct a thorough investigation, identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

“The government assures the people of Ogboji and the entire state that we will do everything humanly possible to ensure justice is served.

He urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies to nab the perpetrators.

“We will continue to work tirelessly to maintain peace and security in our great state.”
