Stop diluting gospel of Christ – Ezeofor tasks preachers

The Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor, has called on ministers of God to always preach the undiluted word of God.

The Bishop made the call in a sermon at Saint Lukes Parish Isulo in Orumba South local government area of Anambra State during a special thanksgiving service.

The service marked the end of the 20th Aguata Diocesan Women’s conference with the theme “God’s Great tasks for the Church 2 The Great commission”.

He decried a situation where gospel of convenience has taken over the pulpits a development he said portends danger for the church.

The Prelate regretted the high rate of corruption in the society which he blamed on the lack of knowledge of God, urging politicians not to politicize the welfare of the citizenry.

He stressed the need to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to the unexpected individuals and groups in order to transform and reform the society.

Right Reverend Ezeofor, who is the National Chairman, Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion, (EFAC) Nigeria, regretted that many for whom the gospel of Jesus Christ is meant are yet to be reached.

Gospel without shame

He advised Christians to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ without shame.

The Bishop decried the poor condition of living in Nigeria which he blamed on bad leadership.

The Accountant General of Anambra State, Dr Chukwudi Okoli, who also attended the church service, called on the church to work closely with the government to improve the moral tone of the society.

He commended the women of Aguata Diocese for taking grassroots evangelism to the next level.

In a remark, the president of the Aguata Diocesan Women’s Ministry Mrs Chinyere Ezeofor regretted the gradual return to idolatry by the youths.

Describing them as the future leaders of both the church and society, Mrs Ezeofor charged parents and ministers of God to rise to the occasion.

The event featured the Children’s Church the dedication of a Children’s Church at St Saint Lukes Isulo, built by the Anglican Bishop of Niger East Diocese, Right Reverend Obiora Uzochukwu, who hails from the town.

Bishop Uzochukwu said the quest to catch them young spurred him to embark on the project.
