Anambra state government has disclosed plans to build a rehabilitation centre at Nibo, Awka to address the state’s mental health issues.
Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, revealed this in a statement on Tuesday said this was part of resolutions of the 12th State Executive Council (ANSEC) meeting of held at the Light House, Awka.
He said the center would allow those who leave the state’s asylums to access rehabilitation facilities that provide all the services they need to fully heal before returning to their families and communities.
Mefor also said the Council has fixed Saturday, June 28, 2025, as the day to open the Solution Fun City to the public.
He said that a foremost Anambra State-born Nigerian music icon, Chinedu Okoli, popularly known as “Flavour N’abania or simply Flavour, will lead a band of other notable musicians such as Umu-Obiligbo and others to the grand fiesta.
The statement reads in part, “The Council further reflected on the proposed Anambra Rebirth Programme and determined that the programme’s blueprint should address a number of important issues to achieve its main objectives.
“Among the programmes were the restoration of the Igbo Apprenticeship system (Igba Boi).
The rebirth programme also aims to achieve the return of hard work and integrity, the criminalization of obscenities, especially the flaunting of money, and warped ideologies of wealth without work.
New contracts and payments approved
ANSEC Mefor said also approved several contracts including the construction and modelling of the State Rehabilitation Centre at Nibo, Awka Capital Territory, to Triseconds Resources Ltd for the at N417,319,619.85.
It also awarded the contract for the relocation and expansion of the Solution Hub & Park at Aroma Junction, Awka to Achufusi Ventures at N72,598,200.88.

Contract was equally awarded for the construction of an increte walkway and flooring, installation of kerbs, and aesthetic enhancement of the Ekwulobia Flyover at N414,907,757.85 to Navigator Sign Ltd.
Some payments were equally approved including N340,936,079.62 to Hemebs Construction Ltd for additional works and fluctuations on the construction of a six-hall high court building complex.
Another N790,241,598.42 was approved to O Ben Developers Ltd for additional works and fluctuations on the construction of 17 unit dwellings (duplexes) and ancillary facilities at the new Commissioners’ Quarters, Awka.
The council also approved N62,867,234.16 to B & O Ltd for rate fluctuations on the construction of additional perimeter fencing, stormwater drainage culverts, and chain-like fences at the Safari Park, Agulu Lake.
