Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has approved contract for erosion reclamation, flood control, and construction of a 2.28 km road project.
The project connects St. Augustine Community Primary School, Rest Assured Hotel, Community High School, Umunze, and the Umuchu By-pass.
The N3.5 billion naira project was awarded to Saidi Nigeria Limited, while another project for the construction of 3.9 km access roads within the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Uli Campus was awarded at N2.65 billion to Anyi Supreme Industries Ltd.
The approvals were made during the 11th ANSEC at the Light House, Awka, after reviewing memos presented by various ministries and agencies of the state government.
A press release by Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor, says that the council equally approved the construction of access roads within the Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe, to Mid-East Construction Company at over N2.1 billion for.
Renovation of dilapidated structures (Lots 1 to 3) at Nwafor Orizu College of Education Nsugbe was approved at N718,681,767.01.
The projects will be executed by Biggstruct Engineering Ltd, Zonel Projects Ltd, and Euro Energy Resources.
Other contracts awarded
The council also awarded contract for the completion of ongoing construction of a Country Club at Ekwulobia Stadium Complex to Crystal Dove Construction Company Ltd at N528,622,393.14.
It approved another N97,310,537.00 to the Anambra Road Maintenance Agency (ARMA) for the rehabilitation of Nya Ranch Road, Awka.
Additional works are to be executed at Onitsha Specialist Hospital, Fegge Onitsha at N65,681,358.34.
The contract will be executed by Crystal Dove Construction Company Ltd.
ANSEC equally approved N55,176,294.00 the state Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA) to install road signs, rumble strips, flashing caution lights, and thermoplastic speed bumps at selected locations across the state.
This contract was awarded to Vadakris Ltd.
Social Reformation
The council reiterated its intention to start the Anambra Rebirth Programme, a project aimed at behavioural change to restore the Igbo values of integrity and hard work.
Anambra State Government is now poised to give attention to additional public schools that had not received adequate attention in the past.
This is made possible by the clearing of inherited counterpart financing arrears by the Soludo’s administration and the expected Federal Government counterpart contribution.
The release adds that the Council has blacklisted drivers who commit major traffic violations, while plans are on to train and retrain the drivers.
