President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Governor Hyacinth Alia to rise above political divisions and lead a genuine process of dialogue and reconciliation on lingering insecurity in the area.

The president stressed that lasting peace is possible when leaders embrace fairness, openness, and justice.

The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Adenuga, said that President Tinubu gave the advice while responding to the latest outbreak of violence in Benue.

According to him, the President also tasked the Governor to immediately convene reconciliation meetings among farmers, herders, and local communities to help to end consistent bloodshed and fostering peaceful coexistence.

The President described the renewed violence as inhuman and anti-progress.

He condemned the actions of individuals and leaders whose inflammatory remarks continue to heighten tensions and provoke reprisals.

The President also urged political and community leaders to act responsibly and prevent further provocations.

The President warned that the killings must not continue and called for the arrest and prosecution of perpetrators on all sides of the conflict.

He also redirected the security chiefs to restore peace and stability to Benue State following fresh reprisal attacks that claimed several lives.
