Child stealing: Suspected female trafficker, another nabbed in Anambra, 2 kids rescued

Anambra state Police Command has arrested two persons over alleged child trafficking in Okpuno – Oba in Idemili South LGA.

Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga said made the disclosure on Saturday, in Awka.

Ikenga said the suspects were apprehended by Police operatives following report by mother of the victims.

He said two children between the ages of three and five years were rescued in the process.

Ikenga identified the suspects as Onyedika Daniel, 19, and Nkechi Onuwa, 25, adding that both had admitted to the crime.

“On June 12, Police Operatives attached to Ozubulu Divisional Headquarters arrested the suspects and rescued two children..

“The mother of the victims said one of her children came and narrated to her how an unknown person had taken away two of his siblings.

“The children were on their way to their mother’s shop along Nwafor Junction, Eziora, Ozubulu.

“During the interrogation, Onyedika admitted to the crime.

“He took the Operatives to Oba where he had already handed over to Nkechi Onuwa for the continuation of their criminal plan.

“The Command is expanding the investigation while the case will be charged to court on the conclusion of investigations,” he said.

Ikenga said the Command us committed to protecting vulnerable members of the society and tackling crimes against children.
